Erika is an up and coming independent artist who's musical style is a little different than what you would normally hear from a 19 year old woman. She combines jazz, rock, soul and pop to form a unique sound guaranteed to keep you listening.
With such differing musical inspirations, such as Sting, Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera & Robbie Williams, she craves to be different in this world of many mirror-like entertainers. The 10 songs on the album are all different in that they mean something more than just recording vocals with a beat behind it. All these songs were written or co-written by Erika, with assistance from Todd Hobin. She came in with all the original lyrics and he helped hone it down to what was neccesary to make the song jump out. She also had help from her band consisting of Todd Hobin (guitar & piano), Brett Hobin (Bass), Corey Hobin (Percussion) & Rob Luzan (guitar). They all helped with the recording process by making a comfortable environment everyday and chiming in with any ideas to improve the songs. Most of the time Erika knew how she wanted the song to go, if she didnt have anything other than the lyrics, Todd would grab his guitar or keyboard and write music and she would take the vocal pattern from there. Although most of her songs were written about her own experiences, there are a couple that were just general subjects that Erika thought she needed to complete the album with a grouping of songs that people can relate to as a whole. From meeting someone at a party that didnt turn out as expected, to losing a loved one, to finding that special someone, losing them to another person, finding new love and it ending too fast and a song cherishing a best friend thats always been there. She really wanted to touch everyone atleast once while listening and she's hoping she'll make a fan out of you aswell.
